As many of you know, I spent nearly a decade of my life in prison, wrongfully convicted of a murder in which I had no involvement. My story made headlines around the world, was featured on numerous TV shows including Dateline, 48 Hours, Good Morning America, the Today Show, The Early Show and Anderson Cooper 360 to name a few, attracted significant celebrity support, and inspired over 265,000 people to sign a petition calling for my release.
After years of setbacks and appeals, my conviction was finally overturned and I was freed on, of all days, November 12th 2013 (11/12/13). Now it’s my mission to use everything I learned from my experience to help other people better themselves.
During my time in prison I wrote my first book; STRONGER, FASTER, SMARTER – A Guide to Your Most Powerful Body. Put simply, without exercise, I likely wouldn’t have survived that decade-long journey through hell.
I used much of my time in prison to educate myself about health and fitness. I read every publication I could get my hands on while trying and testing almost every exercise and regime out there. I’ve found what’s been proven to work best for our bodies and now I want to share my knowledge and experience with all of you.
Health and fitness are not just my hobby, my passion and my area of expertise, they are what I know and understand best in life. Focusing on becoming stronger, faster and smarter each and every day gave me a purpose. It occupied much of my time and directed a great deal of negative energy in a positive direction. Most importantly, it gave me a physique that told others not to mess with me!
Since my release, I’ve become a NASM certified personal trainer, appeared in Men’s Health magazine and been a featured Spartan Race athlete on NBC Sports. As many of you may know, I’m just getting started…
While you may not need to ward off violent convicts on a daily basis, the benefits of improving your health and fitness are just as important.
